STUFF MOM NEVER TOLD YOU
Stuff Mom Never Told You exists due partly to content innovation and selfishness. Way back when in 2009, my original co-host Molly Edmonds and I were HowStuffWorks.com staff writers interested in pitching a podcast we'd also love to listen to as young, ambitious women. After looking at the in-depth, rigorously researched HowStuffWorks archive, we got an idea. What would happen if we took the same research-heavy approach to presumably general interest topics like astronomy, cults and vegetarianism and examine where and how women and girls fit into the picture?
In February 2009, Stuff Mom Never Told You came to life with the episode "Do men and women have different brains?" Fast-forward more than 700 episodes later, and SMNTY now attracts more than 1 million downloads per month, streaming listeners not included. My crackerjack co-host Caroline Ervin and I have also won an engage, global audience through our fundamentally fact-driven, humor-backed approach to how gender, womanhood and feminism apply to any imaginable topic. From radicalizing histories of women in the workplace and academia to the unsung mental and biological science of the female body and beyond, our mission is to investigate all the Stuff Mom Never Told You.
